We welcome all interested players, regardless of their experience or ability, as well as their families, to become part of the Piara Waters Junior Football Club Pirates.
We have many players who had never played footy before joining us, and parents who don’t follow AFL and had no idea of the rules. Of course we’ve also got plenty of avid AFL fans!
To us, it’s all about the kids. We want them to have fun in a safe, healthy, family-friendly environment. We encourage parents to be part of the club as much as they can.
We couldn’t do it without support from sponsors and parent volunteers.
We are situated at Piara Waters Pavilion, 350 Wright Road, Piara Waters and Rossiter Pavilion, Rossiter Avenue, Piara Waters.
OUR HISTORY
The Piara Waters Junior Football Club Pirates was established in 2013 by parents who saw a need for a local club so their children could play football close to home.
With advice from East Fremantle District, support from the City of Armadale, sponsors and help from an enthusiastic group of volunteers, the club kicked off its inaugural season in 2014.
The club fielded teams from Auskick – Pre-Primary to Year 2s and Juniors – Year 3s to Year 7s.
In 2013 our club had 53 players all playing in Auskick teams. This year our club has expanded to over 320 players and has six teams in the Junior league including our first full female team.
The club moved to our new sporting facilities at the end of 2014 to the Piara Waters Pavilion. This was an exceptional achievement for our junior club and are currently working with the City of Armadale to make this space our home.
In 2017 the Pirates were awarded the East Fremantle District Junior Football Club of the Year. This is a major award for such a young club. We also fielded our first junior girls team, which proved incredibly popular.
In 2018 the club had almost 400 children playing from pre-primary to year 9. We were successful in securing a second venue for our growing club at Rossiter Pavilion – a strategic move that is going to ensure the club’s ability to sustain future growth and ensure children in the area can continue playing footy locally.
